New Build

A THRIVING SCHOOL, ENTERING A NEW ERA

Bramhall High School is a welcoming, high-achieving and fully comprehensive community where 1,350 students aged 11–16 learn, grow and thrive. We are proud to serve a wonderfully diverse cohort, and we take the time to ensure every young person is truly known, genuinely valued and supported to become the very best version of themselves.

A Once-in-a-Generation Transformation

We are entering an incredibly exciting chapter in Bramhall High School’s story. Our new school building represents a once-in-a-generation investment — a bold, future-focused commitment to the young people and families we serve. This project isn’t about changing who we are; it’s about giving our students the very best environment in which to flourish. This project is not a change in direction. It is an investment in our future.

The new building strengthens everything that already makes Bramhall special: our strong academic outcomes, our exceptional pastoral care, our rich extra-curricular life and our unwavering values of Respect, Resilience and Excellence. It is a natural next step for a school that is already thriving.

Why We Need a New Building

Our current buildings date back to the late 1960's and have simply reached the end of their design life.

While temporary repairs have kept us going, a full rebuild is the safest, most sustainable and most forward-thinking solution. The new school will provide modern, flexible and energy-efficient spaces that truly reflect the needs of today’s learners — and tomorrows.

What Will Stay the Same

Although the building is changing, our identity is not.

  • Our student capacity remains at 1,350.
  • Our broad, ambitious curriculum continues unchanged.
  • Our ethos and values remain at the heart of everything we do.
  • Our specialist staff continue to bring passion, expertise and care to every lesson.

The project enhances our provision — it doesn’t replace it.

A School Designed for Inspiration

The new three-storey building has been carefully crafted to create a vibrant, uplifting environment where students feel inspired to learn and proud to belong. It includes:

  • Bright, modern classrooms
  • Ten state-of-the-art science labs
  • Specialist spaces for drama, music, art and design

The new school includes:
  • 25 bright, modern classrooms
  • 10 science labs with a central prep room
  • A specialist drama studio and drama classroom
  • Specialist Music area with recording studio and multiple practice rooms
  • Two dedicated Food and Hospitality rooms
  • Modern Design & Technology workshops
  • Art & design rooms
  • Three ICT suites
  • A large activity studio
  • A dedicated SEND/Thrive/Transition hub
  • Two new MUGAs
  • A Sport England-compliant sports hall
  • A new library overlooking the heart of the school
  • Student facilities on every floor and in the retained maths block
  • A future 3G pitch (delivered by Stockport Council)
  • A landscaped courtyard linking the new building to the Maths block
  • A central dining atrium plus separate Grab'n'Go areas in the Main Hall and in the Community area

Every detail has been designed to support exceptional learning, creativity and wellbeing.

A Sustainable, Future-Ready School

Sustainability sits at the heart of the design.

The new building will feature:

  • Renewable energy technologies
  • Highly efficient heating, lighting & ventilation
  • A minimum 10% biodiversity net gain
  • Extensive new planting and habitat areas
  • Secure covered storage for around 200 bicycles

This is a school built with the future in mind — environmentally responsible, energy-efficient and designed to encourage active travel.

A School for the Whole Community

Bramhall High School has always been a place where community matters, and the new build strengthens that connection. The sports hall, activity studio, drama spaces and MUGA will all be available for community use through a dedicated entrance, ensuring the main school remains secure while welcoming local groups and organisations.

The community MUGA has been carefully positioned to minimise noise and light impact, and any future lighting proposals for the 3G pitch will be subject to planning controls.

Continuing Our Tradition of Excellence

We approach this project from a position of real strength. Bramhall High School is a thriving, oversubscribed school with a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, outstanding academic outcomes and full specialist staffing. Our students benefit from a rich and varied extra-curricular offer — from performing arts and competitive sport to STEM clubs, leadership opportunities and community partnerships.

The rebuild allows us to build on these strengths, expand our offer and ensure that Bramhall High School continues to be a place where every young person can thrive.

Supporting Every Learner

We are proud of our deeply embedded culture of care, and the new building strengthens this even further. Our dedicated SEND/Thrive/Transition hub will offer calm, purpose-built spaces with excellent acoustic control and its own entrance — a significant improvement on our current provision.

Alongside this, the new building includes a dedicated area for mental health and wellbeing, ensuring support is visible, accessible and woven into daily school life.

Travel, Parking and Access

A new School Travel Plan will encourage safe, active and sustainable travel for everyone in our community.

The new site will include:

  • 132 parking spaces
  • 14 accessible bays
  • 13 EV charging bays
  • A bus waiting area for up to five buses
  • Secure storage for around 200 bicycles

Looking Ahead with Confidence

This new building is more than bricks and mortar — it is a powerful statement about the kind of school we are and the ambitions we hold for our students. It reflects our belief that every young person deserves the very best: inspiring spaces, exceptional teaching and a community that knows and values them.

Bramhall High School is already a place where students thrive. This project ensures we remain that place for generations to come.
