Personal Development
Personal, Social, Health and Economic education aims to help children navigate life now and in the future...
Statutory Relationship & Sex Education and Health, including Personal, Social, Health and Economic factors, is taught within our redeveloped Personal Development curriculum. This learning is built up, sequenced and enhanced through our Form Time Personal Development sessions, our assembly programme, and within the majority of curriculum subjects.
In addition, this curriculum is further explored during ‘Focus Days’, where usual school learning is suspended, in order for rich, deep learning to take place. During these ‘Focus Days’, students have the opportunity to consider and discuss complex and sometimes controversial issues. Topics include sexual harassment, consent, substance use, money management, positive and negative relationships, sexual and criminal exploitation, immigration, pornography, careers, future plans, British values, and so on.
Students also hear from expert guest speakers and participate in activities that promote being safe, happy, and mentally and physically healthy. The aim is for our students to become respectful, kind, resilient, and informed members of our school community and successful citizens of the future.
Through our programme of learning, we also aim to advance:
- Diversity and inclusivity.
- Togetherness and community.
- Acceptance and tolerance.
- Informed decision-making.
